There’s a lot happening in Paris this summer surrounding the Olympic Games. All 32 sporting disciplines have found homes in the French capital. The only permanent sports facility built for the Olympics is the Aquatics Center, which will host artistic swimming, water polo, and diving events. Other venues include temporary arenas and stands, some built around famous landmarks. The majority of facilities are located within a five-kilometer radius of the Olympic Village in the north of the city. The Opening Ceremony will be held along the Seine River, which is a unique departure from the traditional stadium setting. The famous Parade of Nations will take place on the Seine itself, with athletes transported by boats. Various popular locations in Paris will host different events. Soccer matches will be held in seven different stadiums across the country. Additionally, some sports will take place outside of Paris, including surfing in Tahiti and sailing in Marseille.
